Yesterday I had an opportunity to do a text-based mediation. Text-based mediation is like a chat mediation where all parties would type rather than speak.
In this type of mediation, I find that parties think before they write, possibly because, in their subconscious mind, they are penning down what they say.
Text-based mediation makes it easier than voice mediation, where sometimes parties get carried away with their emotions. Parties tend to be in better control of their feelings.
I have noticed there is an increased level of attention by all parties. Since parties are visually not connecting, they are paying more attention to what parties write, and a carefully considered response is given.
What other advantages and disadvantages do you feel are there in a text-based mediation?
What type of Mediation suits you better - On Line or Face to Face Mediation?
0%I am comfortable with both types of mediation .
